The Hospital District of Southwest Finland is a public joint municipal authority that produces specialised health care services through Turku University Central Hospital (Tyks) and its other hospitals. The district consists of 28 member municipalities with a total of over 470 000 residents. Additionally, the district is responsible for the availability of university hospital level services in the central hospitals Pori and Vaasa. Patients who require tertiary health care are admitted to Tyks from all around Finland. More than 200,000 people use the services of the hospital district each year.

Johanna Hynninen
Johanna Hynninen, MD, PhD, Adjunct Professor, is a specialist in gynaecologic oncology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Turku University Central Hospital (Tyks). Hynninen has over ten years of clinical experience in ovarian cancer surgery and chemotherapy and a strong background in performing translational and clinical research. She works as a senior consultant in Tyks and coordinates the patient sample collection and treatment suggestions in the DECIDER project. She has established a well-functioning sample collection protocol, which is an excellent basis for conducting the research in DECIDER. Read more about Johanna Hynninen here.
